I have your card of August 9th and I am sorry to say I dont know what it is about. I havent heard anything about a Dictionary of American Artists and have had no form to fill out.

I left the Downtown Gallery almost a year ago and would not know what sort of fact sheet was sent you from there.

GEORGIA, O'KEEFFE An autograph letter signed Abiquiu , New Mexico, February 7, 1950. To Charles Daniell (?), possibly related to one of O'Keeffe's favorite photographers George Daniell. "I have your letter and have sent it on to Marin [American artist John Marin, good friend to Stieglitz and O'Keeffe; they were married at his home]." "You can call him at Cliffside 6-3604-N.J. but you had better call PL 5-7258-The Plaza and speak with young John Marin first. I heard some time back that old John Marin wasn't so well---He may be alright now. Get your pictures from him." On the verso, the artist has whimsically written "Give my greetings to the Ocean!" RENOIR An attractive, scarce item: a 6 X 7 image-size photograph of a Renoir painting of one of his typical young girls, this example, a young lady in profile. On the generous lower margin, the French artist has signed and his signature has been notarized as authentic by the Mayor of Cagnes who dates it January 10, 1911. Overall size 6 X 10 . Mounted to a 9 X 12 board. In an attempt to discourage forgeries of Renoir's paintings, his art agent, Ambroise Vollard, resorted to photographic authentications, with the cooperation of Renoir, to stop fraud. [ref:6834]

I am almost ashamed to send you such untidy M.S.S. but it is your wish and I have not time just now to get them typed I hope it will reach you all right but there is one word in your letter which I cannot read and that is the name of your house."
